"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
This is one of the most importat fashion, beauty and health events in Colombia, in which the innovative ideas of the designers and business people are shown to the public and the esthetic lovers.
Colombia is the most diverse country in the world when it comes to orchids. This is why the Orquideorama is an unmissable attraction in Cali. The Orquideorama was named after Enrique Pérez Arbeláez in recognition to his excellent work as a botanist and for being one of the founders of the ‘Academia Colombiana de Ciencias’ (Colombian Academy of Sciences). The Orquideorama is an open-air museum with an exuberant flora spread across 7,400m2 of orchids gardens that embellishes the place with a unique atmosphere. Here, oftenly social gatherings, conferences, exhibitions and other scientific, ecological, cultural and recreational activities are held.
This is a space that brings together families the enjoy fresh pure air, providing an approach to nature knowledge. Inside, there’s a kiosk with a capacity for 200 people, stands where orchids are exhibited, modules for selling products, tents to install, wi-fi and parking facilities. Also, guided visits are offered by orchid experts who teach visitors basic aspects of this flower (characteristics, species and how to cultivate them).
How to get there?
The Orquideorama is located at Avenida 2 norte No. 48-10, in La Merced neighbourhood. Few blocks away you will find the Parque de la Merced and Parque del Avión.
