Alcalá, a coffee adventure
Alcalá is in the northeast town of Valle del Cauca, limiting to the north with Ulloa, to the west with Cartago and to the east with the department of Quindío. This lands are crossed by the Central Mountain Range and the famous river La Vieja. As Ulloa, this is one of the smallest towns in the department, and also is part of The Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia (PCC), declared as a World Heritage in 2011 by the UNESCO.
there is a leafy Saman in the main park of Alcalá, which was planted one hundred years ago in honor to the the sacrificed colombian heroin, Policarpa Salavarrieta. This is a pride symbol for all the “Alcaínos” (people from Alcalá), besides of being the most peaceful and the biggest shadow of the town. If you walk around, you will be walking on its roots, which are under the church, the coffee, the bank and most of the surroundings. This Saman is part of the village.
One of the favorite destinations chosen by the ecotourism fans is the “Hotel Bosques del Samán”, an antique coffee farm that became a hotel. Hundreds of foreigners and locals stay here to do trekking, bird watching, milk the cows or collect the coffee, dressed like the typical farmer of the region.
After the hard work, you could recover energy going to El Dinde, the best place to eat “chorizo” (colombian typical sausage), or having a good coffee in any place, because here you don’t have to look for a good coffee shop or a recommended and expensive brand. This is a colorful and enchanting town, full of fighters, working people and tasty pleasures.
"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
This is one of the most importat fashion, beauty and health events in Colombia, in which the innovative ideas of the designers and business people are shown to the public and the esthetic lovers.
