"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
This is one of the most importat fashion, beauty and health events in Colombia, in which the innovative ideas of the designers and business people are shown to the public and the esthetic lovers.
It is unavoidable to not be attracted by a cultural and artistic center with the characteristics of the Art Deco Museum of Sevilla. The exhibitions of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, 50s and 60s pieces, open to the public on weekends and holidays. It takes place in a house built in 1935, which sustains that character of the past and has large spaces that are suitable for that purpose. Carlos Alberto González who is the manager of this initiative, has traveled the world collecting unique pieces of art that take up all the trends of the 20th century, and has decided, on the event of the commemoration of the first centenary of the municipality, to bring them and exhibit them in a single place.
This pioneer, born in Sevilla, is a renowned journalist and art critic. Lovers of this art and culture, not only from the interior of the country but also from abroad, come to the municipality to admire its collection and enjoy it, because Carlos' main concern is aesthetics and good taste. The Art Deco style arrives in Paris and reaches its peak in 1929. It consists of a style loaded with geometric shapes but simple at the same time. In addition to the exhibition of objects and paintings, the museum also makes available spaces for conferences and film screenings.
How to get there...
The Art Deco Museum is located in the municipality of Sevilla, Valle del Cauca, on the 50th street with Carrera 49. Sevilla is three hours by bus from Cali. From the ground transportation of Cali you can board any of the following bus routes: Expreso Palmira, Coopetrans Tuluá or Ciudad Señora.
