The Municipal Theater adopts the name of "Ernesto Salcedo Ospina", a local singer with tenor voice, in honor of his brilliant musical career and for having been a source of pride for the region. The theater is one of the most representative spaces of the city of Buga, because its architectural beauty is dazzling and, for many years, it was the only theater that decorated the streets of the city and gave rise to culture activities. For years the project was planned and finally put into development thanks to the efforts of the entire community in 1916. Six years later, in 1922, the building was completed.

This theather was in the hands of the architect, painter and sculptor Enrique Figueroa, famous for having been part of the construction of well-known buildings as the Panama Canal. This gifted man, in addition, gave a very picturesque touch to the facade of the theater. He is the one who made the busts of Beethoven, Mozart and Liz, which rest on the facade of the theater supported by three arches. In this majestic infrastructure is reflected the republican neoclassical architecture of the time, which was used by lots of artists in Europe. Also, its facilities have the capacity to accommodate an audience of 1000 people. Thus, this has been the scene of well-known artistic, theatrical and musical works, configuring itself as a very attractive tourist destination and a place which the locals appreciate so much.

The municipal theater Ernesto Salcedo Ospina is located in Buga, municipality of Valle del Cauca, in the corner made between Calle 6 and Carrera 10. From the Cali transport terminal, the companies Lineas Del Valle, Expreso Palmira, Coodetrans Palmira, Líneas de la Fé and Ciudad Señora offers bus routes to Buga.
