Travel to the past in Argelia
On the western mountain range, at the north of the majestic geographical valley of the Cauca River is the land where every visitor that arrives is looked at with the lenses of love. Just 38 kilometers away from Cartago and after climbing the Western Mountain Range you reach the hideaway of Argelia. This is a place where the “lulo” grows magically, a typical fruit of Valle del Cauca. Also plantain, cane, tomato and coffee are part of other plantations of the region. Argelia is known because is one of the heritage towns of Colombia, since it is part of the Coffee Cultural Landscape (PCC), declared by UNESCO in 2011 as World Heritage.
The best way to get around and travel the town is by walking through its streets surrounded by colorful and flowered balconies, typical of the rural architecture from Antioquia. That’s the way how you are going end up finding other places like “Las gradas de Montserrate” or the Montserrate steps and the beautiful stained glass windows of the church, which narrate the fourteen Stations of the Cross. People tell that on the last century, when the church was builded, this piece of art was brought from Spain.
The Palo Solo Ecological Trail is another attraction of Argelia. Over there, nature lovers will discover several of the secrets that the Andes mountain range holds in its northern zone. Having a trip to one of the highest villages in the Valley will be an unforgettable experience.
"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
This is one of the most importat fashion, beauty and health events in Colombia, in which the innovative ideas of the designers and business people are shown to the public and the esthetic lovers.
