Palmira, the Valley’s windy city
Known as the land of palm trees and bicycles, Palmira is the second most important city in Valle del Cauca, growing at an accelerated pace and still retaining much of its customs and traditions. A stroll through the city’s downtown will be enough for visitors to experience this duality between modern life and the history and idiosyncrasy of proudly Valle del Cauca people.
At its surroundings, there are several natural sights that make the city an unforgettable destination. The Reserva Natural Nirvana, located at the south east of the city, sixteen kilometers from the urban center, in the village of La Buitrera, is an example of this. There you can enjoy an oasis of peace drawn by gardens, nurseries, forests and trails that are an example of spontaneous reforestation.
The majestic winds of the stately city are also enjoyed more strongly in La Buitrera, a favorite haunt for flight enthusiasts. In paragliders locals and foreigners embark on an aerial journey, in which they witness the beauty of the Valley, its haciendas, its cane plantations and its birds quietly flying.
"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
This is one of the most importat fashion, beauty and health events in Colombia, in which the innovative ideas of the designers and business people are shown to the public and the esthetic lovers.
