Yotoco, the king of the wind
About 56 km north from Cali are the lands that previously belonged to the tribe of Gorrones and Calimas. Both cultures stood out for their marvelous goldsmithing, turning Yotoco for a long time into a center of attraction for the "Guaqueros" or looters of indigenous tombs, since in them were treasures of different precious materials, specially gold. Despite these looting, today the people rise up as a protector of their ancestral wisdom, the relics left by their ancestors, and the robust nature of which they are a part.
Within its natural sites there is the Reserva Natural Bosque de Yotoco. Throughout its 559 hectares of forest there are fantastic flora species, as well as the fauna that hides in this ecosystem. The most popular places for ecotourism fans are: the viewpoint over the Calima reservoir and the viewpoint to the Sonso lagoon, which are the perfect window to appreciate unforgettable landscapes that will take your breath away.
Walking through the town and its main park will give you a sense of tranquility that probably could not be experienced anywhere else. The winds interfere with each of the streets, making part of the conversations, the "corner gossip", and the parchis lead by gentlemen who frequent the park. If you want to know what life is like outside the big cities of Colombia and the Valley, this is the ideal destination to rest and be enchanted by the small details of Yotoco.
"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
