Vijes, a chest full of millenary secrets
Only thirty kilometers from Cali, heading north, stands Vijes, the "white town". Like other towns of the department, its territory enjoys the plains near the Cauca River, but also the Andes’ Western Mountain Range.
This is a mysterious land. All Valle del Cauca says, following our collective imagination, that "in Vijes people do not die". And apparently it is true: here people exceed one hundred years of life. But the secrets go beyond. On the rocks, traces of marine species are constantly found. In addition, the facades in Vijes are painted white, with limestone, one of its representative products.
Those who visit this town are curious tourists: they go in search of archaeological treasures, such as the Vuelta de los Ataudes. There are vestiges of the end of a volcanic era, which rises in a funereal way on the side of the road. They also look for the Piedra del Sol, where it is said that there are indigenous hieroglyphics from the time of the Spanish conquest.
Other attractions of this city are the lakes for sport fishing. There are also its refreshing rivers, on top of the mountain range, ideal to evade the heat of the Valle del Cauca’s evenings.
"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
This is one of the most importat fashion, beauty and health events in Colombia, in which the innovative ideas of the designers and business people are shown to the public and the esthetic lovers.
