La Unión, a town made of flavors
In the northern region of the Valle del Cauca, 163 Kilometers from Cali is located La Union, a green and fertile land, where passion fruit, papaya, guava, orange, lemon and grape, one of the most famous fruit of the area, grow. The last, even has its own tourist park.
‘El Parque de la Uva’ (the Grape’s Park) is a place visited by ecotourism lovers. Through its wonderful trails you can know all the stages of this crop. The lake, the zoo and the canopy station, which hangs over the vineyards, are other unique experiences that make this place an unparalleled destination.
La Union honors its name with the warmth and solidarity of its people, who deliver everything at the table. It is considered that this is one of the villages in the Valle del Cauca where the "mecato" or typical snacks taste better. The ‘pandeyuca’, for example, is one of these delicacies that nowhere else its spongy interior softens everyone’s heart. Here you can also find bizcochuelos, pumpkin candy, coconut panelas, cold oatmeal and trabuco, perfect to scare away the heat. And if that's not enough, you can take a walk around La Ermita church, which despite being a century-old construction, still stands out for its whiteness in the midst of nature; it is the town’s "sugar lump". This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
