Buenaventura, a paradise of peaceful water

Buenaventura is the largest municipality of Valle del Cauca and the most biodiverse. These lands are a natural fortune covered with forests, rivers and bays that take travelers to a world in which the clock hands take a break. Also, it is a cultural hub for the department, the country and the world. Its traditional kitchens are considered Intangible Cultural Heritage of the City, offering a creative field where the elements of the daily life of its people play with the legacy of the African diaspora, letting Buenaventura to be part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Likewise, the marimba music, the traditional songs and dances of the colombian Pacific were also declared as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

The beaches of Juanchaco, Ladrilleros, Cucheros, Piangüita and La Barra are perfect to enjoy a funny weekend within the colombian pacific culture. Swiming in the rivers Zabaletas, San Cipriano and Anchicayá and spending a night in the middle of nature, is going to disconnect you from a world that lives to the rhythm of the metropolis. The Uramba National Park - Bahía Málaga, is a biodiversity cradle. Over there, you could: walking on prehistoric rocks, swimming in sweetwater pools, getting into virgin forests and looking out the exotic species of flora and fauna that in other places of the world are totally hidden from human hands. Every year, without fail, the humpback whales come from the Arctic, to mate and give birth to their calves.

Finally, you should visit Malpelo Island, another amazing natural destination of Buenaventura. It has been declared as a Natural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO. This is a place where various species of birds, corals of the Colombian Pacific and marine species are conserved.
