"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
This is one of the most importat fashion, beauty and health events in Colombia, in which the innovative ideas of the designers and business people are shown to the public and the esthetic lovers.
Juanchito is a village located in the Candelaria municipality. The story of its name, is due to a character named Juan, who was responsible for moving travelers from one side of the river to the other. As time passed, the travelers stopped calling him Juan to call him "Juanchito" due to his short stature. The navigation on the Cauca River, turned Juanchito into a port that attracted the presence of immigrants, endowing the municipality with a great cultural diversity and a festive and cheerful identity that has remained since the 19th century.
Juanchito is characterized by its monumental festivals that, since 1982, have not stopped being held every year, thus becoming the main attraction of locals and tourists. In this place, the salsa culture has been cultivated, receiving in its main discos "Agapito" and "Changó", great artists such as Fania All Stars and Hector Lavoe. This is how the salsa and party tradition has made Juanchito "the mecca of salsa and rumba", here there is living evidence of the salsa history that defines the identity of the Cali’s inhabitants.
How to get there?
It is located seven kilometers from Cali, to get there you have to take the Cali-Candelaria highway. Just after passing the bridge over the Cauca River, there is Juanchito.
